What documents do you need for UBC?
Before fly, you must make sure you have Student Visa which you can obtain online (it’s not that complicated and you can do it yourself)
To fly this August, you might need documents regarding your quarantine plan and covid test results, I suggest you check out the UBC website
I saw something about custodians, do we need to sign a custodian form to apply for a study visa if we are under 19?
We don’t have to since we are university students, we are expected to take care of ourselves
We do have a testimony from Nonny, who unfortunately signed it
Nonny: (referring to applying for custodian) “Ugh yeah don’t do that”
Nonny: “Waste of time and money”
Nonny: “Scam”
How does quarantine work?
I’m not too sure, I came before the government placed a 3 days regulation at a hotel assigned by the government. By August, Covid regulations may change, too.
Again, check the Canadian government website for proper information!
What to do when you land at the airport?
Reminder to pass the ตม / immigration officer, make sure you don’t have any meat product in your belongings (if you do, let them know or you might get caught and be fined)
Shredded pork and mama pork is not legal by the way, no one's gonna stop you from attempting, but I think you should know it’s illegal
After you pass the immigration officer
Collect your bag and while you are exiting, the officer will check that you are student and guide to to get your physical study permit
When you are out (pre-COVID)
There might be UBC bus if you arrive on the date they offered bus (I boarded that for jumpstart)
If not airport to UBC bus provided by UBC, then recommend to grab a taxi to UBC
You can take skytrain -> bus -> UBC; wouldn’t recommend because you probably have lots of luggage
