If there are many questions about a certain topic, we'll start a separate post for it, but anyway, here are some questions to get started!
How does course registration work? What is the standard timetable?
Make sure you know when you are registering
I suggest making sure you know what classes you want to take before the register date
You can read more online or ask me about the standard timetables, switching courses, Cr/D/F classes, and etc.
For Art Students who is at least bilingual, how do we know if we have to take 12 language requirement credit or not
Check out your CWL: grades and record -> high school record, if you see LANG 12, you already fulfilled your language requirements
Housing: What is the best 1st year housing?
'It really depends", "every housing is nice in its own way", "you can't really compare them"...
Let me tell you, that's what they are going to say, but the truth is Orchard Commons is the best (totally not an OC ex-resident). This doesn't mean the other residents are way worse, it just that other residents have different perks. For example, Place Vanier has a great community and the infamous Havana Bowl. But if you get a Place Vanier's basement room... I wish you the best.

For course registration:
- make sure you have your registration date ready and marked on your calendar
- don't forget to preselect your courses in the worklist so you can press register course all at once
- if you are in Art, you probably not have STT, so you might want to hand-select your courses
- because 2nd year students are the last ones to pick courses, I highly suggest first year Arts student to take WRDS150 (or whatever the writing requirement is) during first year and at least one literature course
- if you are doing just a major in Faculty of Arts, I also suggest you think of a possible minor or even another major you might want to pursue because it's more difficult to decide later (because those courses will need lower level course prerequisites)
- ratemyprof may be useful
- reaching out to upperclassmen who is in your major or department may be beneficial to you too
*feel free to ask me because I'm on summer break
